Credential-based verification, not reviews or paid placements.
Modern EVs operate at 400-800 volts. Working on these systems without proper training and equipment is genuinely dangerous, both for the technician and the vehicle. We built this directory because EV owners deserve to know which shops actually have the credentials to work on their car.
Important
EVqualified is not a certification body. We don't issue certifications, provide training, or guarantee repair outcomes. We research and cross-reference publicly available credential data to help you find shops with verified EV qualifications.
We check the ASE certification lookup tool to confirm active certifications, including xEV Specialist (L3), Master Technician, and Advanced Engine Performance credentials. If a shop claims ASE certs, we verify them.
We review each shop's Google Business listing to confirm they're a real, operating business, checking location, hours, photos, and whether they mention EV or hybrid service. This helps us catch closed shops, fake listings, and businesses that aren't actually auto repair.
We look at the shop's own website and social media for evidence of EV work: photos of EVs in the bay, mentions of high-voltage training, EV-specific equipment, and the brands they service. Shops that don't mention EV work anywhere aren't listed as EV specialists.
For higher-level listings, we contact shops directly to request documentation: training certificates, manufacturer program completions, or photos of EV-specific diagnostic equipment. Not every shop provides this, and we note that in our records.
Shops are categorized into three levels based on their verified credentials, equipment, and service capabilities.
Basic EV maintenance including tire rotation, brake pads, cabin air filter, wiper/fluid service, 12V battery replacement. Basic EV safety protocols.
Everything in Level 1 plus high-voltage system diagnostics, charging system repairs, thermal management, 12V auxiliary battery service.
Everything in Levels 1 & 2 plus high-voltage battery diagnostics & repair, battery module replacement, electric motor service, inverter & power electronics, full drivetrain service, advanced EV diagnostics.
If your shop holds ASE, EV-specific, or high-voltage safety certifications, apply to join Minnesota's verified directory.
